Over the past several years I have been traveling throughout south Asia. During these travels, I have noticed how during the liminal hours of the morning there are often times when I experience the most amazing and evocative sound scapes. These moments hover around me as they enter my room during times of half-dream/half-wake states - always leaving a profound impression and reminding me of the power of deep listening.

Of course, one references is that of Luc Ferrari’s ‘presque rien’ where he documented the moment when a coastal Croatian fishing village is waking up.

Here, I make selections from these waking moments of a place. By simply putting the recorder out the window or other times I have ventured out early to find unique situations of ‘waking up’ in special sounding locations.

So I invite you to share in these in these moments of 'ready made phonography' - perhaps to experience a bit of the wonder of being in such amazing sonicaly rich locations as these.
